My Approach to Subtle Energy Work
My approach to subtle energy work is rooted in Reiki and has evolved through years of personal practice, study, and working with others.
I trained with the International House of Reiki in Usui Reiki Ryoho, a grounded Japanese approach that seeks to reflect the practices taught by Reiki founder Usui Mikao. Informed by Japanese Buddhism, Shinto, and other spiritual traditions of the time, this training introduced me to Reiki as a personal spiritual practice rather than simply a hands-on healing technique.
I have grown to deeply appreciate this grounded approach. It continues to shape the quality of presence, awareness, and intention that I bring to my work.
Why I Call My Work Reiki-Informed
As my practice has developed, I have found that bringing other traditions into energy work creates a deeper and more embodied experience for both my clients and myself.
In addition to Reiki, my work may draw from aromatherapy, sound, somatic awareness, and earth-based and shamanic practices. I do not treat these as separate techniques or follow the same formula in every session. They come together in response to the individual, their intention, and what is arising in the moment.
This is why I describe my work as Reiki-informed. Reiki remains an important foundation, but what I offer is not a traditional Reiki treatment alone. The term allows me to honor the teachings of Usui Mikao while being transparent about the broader practices that now inform my work.
Aromatic plants may open pathways into memory, emotion, and inner awareness. Sound can support grounding, movement, and release. Somatic awareness invites attention to the body’s responses, while earth-based practices can help restore a sense of connection to the natural world.
This integrated approach is woven throughout my Aromatic Medicine Healings, personalized private sessions that engage energy, body, senses, and spirit.
