Sound Healing in the Redwoods
Set in the quiet of the redwoods of Woodside California, these sessions are designed to help you slow down and reconnect with your body.
Working one-on-one, or in very small groups, sound is used to support a shift out of constant stimulation and into a more grounded, regulated state.
How Sound is Experienced
Sound moves through the body as much as it is heard.
Different tones can be felt in different areas, sometimes as a sense of grounding through the lower body, sometimes as a gentle opening through the chest or upper body. The experience is physical, not abstract.
As the body responds to these vibrations, it begins to soften, settle, and reorganize in a more natural way.
The Benefits of Sound Healing
Sound works directly with the nervous system.
As the body begins to relax, the parasympathetic nervous system becomes more active, supporting rest, digestion, and repair. What many people experience first is a shift out of constant stimulation and into a slower, more regulated state.
There is also an effect on brainwave activity.
As the session deepens, the mind often moves out of a more alert, thinking state and into slower rhythms, particularly alpha and theta brainwave states. These are the same states associated with meditation, creativity, and deep rest.
In this state, the body is more receptive. The mind quiets, and there is often a sense of spaciousness, or a softening of internal tension that isn’t always accessible through effort alone.
The Instruments
The instruments are chosen for their depth, tone, and ability to support grounding.
Crystal singing bowls are a central part of the work, alongside frame drums, shamanic drums, Native-style flutes, and subtle percussive elements such as chimes and rattles. I also incorporate select instruments like the Freenotes Wing and Wave.
Each is used with intention, based on what feels most supportive in the moment. The focus is not on the number of instruments, but on how they are experienced in the body.
The Experience
Healing sessions take place in a quiet home setting in the redwoods of Woodside.
The surrounding environment plays a role in the experience. Time among trees has been shown to support the nervous system, helping to lower stress and bring the body into a more regulated state. This natural grounding becomes part of the work.
Scent is also woven in, in a subtle and intentional way. Rather than filling the space, aromatics are used more personally, allowing them to support the body without interrupting the integrity of the sound.
Together, sound, environment, and scent create an experience that is both grounding and restorative, something that can be felt during the session and carried forward into daily life.
