Morning Elixir Recipe

Morning Elixir Recipe

In our most recent episode of The Way Home to Yourself, I talked about the role of coffee during perimenopause and menopause. I also shared how replacing your morning coffee with an elixir can be a beautiful ritual—one that’s both grounding and nourishing. This warm, comforting drink is made with superfoods and herbs that support your body without the jitters or anxiousness that coffee can sometimes bring.

Here’s the recipe I use. There’s no need to include everything listed—just choose what feels right for you.

Ingredients:

  • 1¼ cups plant-based milk
(Choose one that’s free from cane syrup. I love Edensoy Vanilla or Pacific Foods Oatmilk)

  • 1 tsp solid coconut oil or raw cacao butter

  • ½–1 scoop collagen peptide powder

  • 1 tsp each of any of the following superfoods:

    • Dandy Blend – Supports the liver and hormone metabolism

    • Ashwagandha powder – Helps the body adapt to stress

    • Astragalus powder – Immune system support

    • Maca powder – Supports hormonal balance and libido

    • Turmeric powder – Anti-inflammatory

    • Reishi mushroom powder – Supports stress response and hormonal health

    • Raw cacao or roasted carob powder – Rich in antioxidants and flavor

  • Optional (use no more than ½ tsp each, and avoid if prone to hot flashes or night sweats):

    • Ginger powder – Warming, anti-inflammatory, and good for digestion (skip of you have acid reflux)

    • Ceylon cinnamon powder – Helps balance blood sugar

Instructions:

  1. Add the plant-based milk to a small pot over low heat.

  2. Stir in the coconut oil or cacao butter, collagen, and any powders you're using.

  3. Once the oil or butter has melted, blend everything with a hand blender until smooth and frothy.

  4. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy.

Try a few versions until you find the one that feels like home. You might be surprised by how easy it is to let go of coffee when you have something this nourishing to replace it.

Take good care,

Françoise
